Leadership Labs

Where leaders practice the work, not just learn about it

A working session for middle and senior management people leaders.
You bring real situations from your own team, practice with peers and take back real change you can use the very next day.

Middle management leaders are the glue of a company. Our Leadership Labs strengthen that glue

Middle management people leaders carry demands from above and from below. They are asked to enforce and apply policies, procedures and changes, while also ensuring that front line teams are working well together, are healthy and psychologically safe.
Often times working in isolation, not fully part of front line teams nor executive leadership, people leaders in middle, and at times senior management, stand right in the highest pressure points.
Our Leadership Labs are designed to strengthen the capacity, confidence, care-centered practices and compliance application in middle management, preventing burn out, disengagement and turn over, while strengthening the whole organization.

How a Leadership Lab works

A Leadership Lab combines short, practical and continuous  learning sessions with time to practice on real situations.

Trust building in a team, promotion of psychological safety, ensuring compliance, workload management,  performance management are not extra topics that get added to a leader's day. They become part of how work is done. Leadership Labs take these essential aspects of the role and weave them into the day to day of a leader, from their work with the front line employees all the way to executive leadership.

Leaders leave more confident with skills that are not just learned, but practiced.

Learn and Practice

Work through real situations with scenarios, role-plays (where applicable) and hands-on activities.
Learn how to translate a topic into practical application.
Leaders bring real issues to the lab to discuss, workshop through, understand deeper and practice.

Length of sessions: minimum four, two-hour sessions.  Exact number varies on needs, size and current realities of the company

Apply

Each leader walks away with practices  they commit to embedding into their day to day, Sufficient time is offered in between session to allow for practice in real situations.

Follow up

Through a peer to peer model, quarterly check in are held to work through challenges and successes. This allows leaders to feel deeply supported not just in their learning but in the application of their learning.

Format: Mostly peer led, with guidance from CPW facilitators. Actual format depends on size of team and company.

What changes.

  • FOR LEADERS: A place to exhale with peers who get it, tools and practices they can actually use right away, confidence in application of the varied aspects and expectation of their position
  • FOR TEAMS: Clearer expectation, deeper connection, trust and safety, sustainable workload habits and burn out prevention
  • FOR THE COMPANY : Committments and compliance requirements turned into daily practice, knowledge building and integration, workload and productivity efficiency and excellence

HONORING WHERE WE ARE- Land Acknowledgement

Even though we work globally, our offices are on the traditional unceded territory of Huron-Wendat, Anishinabek, the Chippewa, the Haudenosaunee Confederacy and The Mississaugas of the Credit River First Nations.  As treaty people on this land, we acknowledge the collective, yet uniquely, and individually distinct responsibility of repairing the harms and preventing further harm caused by the White supremacist, colonial, systems which impact all parts of society, and which are directly responsible for the violent physical and cultural genocide of Indigenous peoples across Turtle Island, and the forced enslavement of people of African decent on these lands.

In our work we are accountable to all care practices that are not entangled with, and structured in punishment, surveillance and control. Care practices which are land based, and built on mutual support. Practices indigenous to all of our ancestors, and stolen from many. In our work we bring the history of our own individual ancestries, as well as the rich genealogy of deep lineage of care present in Queer, Trans, Black, Indigenous, People of Color (QTBIPoC) communities. Communities from which self-determined care has been stolen through the legacy and present day reality of colonialism, supremacy and binary based systems. We actively center the QTBIPOC voices and aim to ensure that we are taking leadership in care by those who experience most harm.
